From searching to becoming a wellspring of inspiration
“Before joining the program, I yearned for guidance and inspiration to unlock my full potential. I really desired to excel beyond mere participation in life and wanted to be a beacon of inspiration for others” Tumwebaza Sanyu Amabel narrated. Her desire for personal and career growth, to thrive instead of just survive, was the driving force behind her decision to join YPMP.
Amabel’s acceptance into YPMP marked a turning point in her journey. As a mentee, she embarked on a transformative path under the guidance of exceptional mentors and facilitators. YPMP’s thoughtfully designed sessions were instrumental in shaping her into the inspirational figure she aspired to be.
Throughout her YPMP experience, she encountered challenges that compelled her to think outside the box and strive for continuous self-improvement. “Even if the journey was not without its difficulties, every challenge proved to be a valuable investment in my growth. YPMP expanded my horizons, fostering both personal and professional development”
The program taught Amabel the art of multitasking and emphasized the importance of effective networking and communication. She discovered the power of storytelling, the significance of volunteerism, and the profound impact that one individual can have on the world. The tangible results of her YPMP journey are nothing short of remarkable. Her testimony is this “You see, my selection as the president of the Uganda Model UN Conference 2023 and role as a panelist at the inaugural Girl Champion Awards 2023 are proof of the profound influence of YPMP on my life and aspirations” Amabel proudly holds titles as a UN youth fellow, an Aspire fellow, a member of the BUILD PHED Leadership program, a UNICEF climate change champion, and a dedicated volunteer at the UN Association Uganda..
All these she attributes to her ability to navigate the demanding landscape of academia and her numerous extracurricular commitments to the skills and knowledge acquired through YPMP. Despite a demanding schedule, she graduates with a well-deserved first-class degree in Bachelor’s of Commerce from Makerere University in 2024.
YPMP has not only honed her multitasking skills but has also equipped her with the tools and inspiration to lead a purposeful life. She is no longer merely thriving; she has become a source of motivation and guidance for others. Thanks to YPMP, she has transitioned from being a student in search of a mentor to becoming a wellspring of inspiration and support for others. As her journey continues, Amabel eagerly anticipates where the path of inspiration will lead her next.
