Passionate Pursuits to growthMeet Our New Mentors
Akanyo Sharon joined the second cohort of YPMP just like the other mentees. She narrated the incomparable contribution of the program as below;
Embarking on the YPMP adventure in January 2023 opened the door to a world of captivating sessions led by renowned professionals hailing from diverse walks of life. Throughout the program, I immersed myself in dynamic individual assignments and embraced the spirit of volunteerism with unwavering determination to leave a lasting imprint on my community. Within the Education cluster, I took the leadership in our group assignment, presenting our insightful exploration of the Inclusive Education Policy in Uganda and China. Triumphantly, our cluster emerged as the best, not only meeting our program objectives but also formulating recommendations to enhance inclusivity in Uganda’s education system.
The program unfolded as a transformative force in my life, featuring speakers whose wisdom spanned a spectrum of backgrounds, igniting a passion for volunteerism deep within. The program exposed me to a series of perspectives and experiences, expanding my worldview and unveiling a myriad of opportunities. Inspired by these influential speakers, my passion for volunteerism burgeoned, compelling me to contribute meaningfully to my community and kindle a positive impact on others’ lives. This commitment found expression in my active participation in initiatives like the FUTURE IS NOW Initiative, where I wholeheartedly dedicate myself to uplifting the lives of the most challenged children, inspiring them to soar to their full potential.
Looking forward, my vision crystallizes into a determination to evolve into a prominent Education Policy Maker in Uganda, armed with a Ph.D. in Education and a robust network of meaningful connections. Undeniably, the mentorship program has served as the guiding star, propelling me forward on this ambitious journey.
